5 Best Treats for Groodle Puppies.

Groodle puppies enjoy tasty treats, but where to start? Treats are important for training by rewarding positive behaviors and they also help to keep your Groodle puppy happy and healthy. We have put together the 5 best treats your Groodle puppy will absolutely LOVE.

Lamb Brisket Bones.

Groodle puppies love Lamb brisket bones. They simply can’t get enough. Lamb brisket bones are meaty, chewy, and tasty. Lamb brisket bones also provide a bit of a challenge for your Groodle puppy to chew through, but not too much, as they are soft and break down easily.

  • Lamb brisket bones are perfect for Groodle puppies 8 weeks or older.

Your puppy simply must experience the pleasure and joy of pulling the bone apart and chewing down every morsel.

How to get lamb brisket bones? Call your local butcher and ask them specifically for lamb brisket bones for a puppy and they will cut them for you.

Tip - your butcher will usually have them available only one day of the week, so call ahead and ask if they would mind putting them aside for you.

Caution - Always separate your puppy from other dogs when feeding and especially with this treat, because they are such a desired treat, other dogs can become aggressive if the newcomer has the delicious treat and they don’t. Take care.

Another tip - If you are going out for an hour or so, lamb brisket bones can be frozen so that your puppy will take longer to chew through the meat and soft bones. Great to keep your puppy busy and happy if you need to duck to the shops for an hour or so. Excellent for training separation anxiety, too. Hard for a puppy to be worried when left alone with a delicious tasty lamb brisket.

Prime 100 Roo Single Source Protein.

Prime 100 Kangaroo dog food.

Training treats encourage and reward positive behaviors. Prime 100 Roo is a great choice as a training treat because the meat is not crumbly and can be cut up into little pieces easily. The roo chunks are less greasy than many other types of meat which make them perfect for reward training and keeping in your treats bags. You can cut up a bunch of small squares and add them to sandwich bags and you and your Groodle puppy are ready for peak performance training.

Prime 100 Roo also uses a single protein (kangaroo meat) so you are not getting lots of different meats in the roll. Puppies can have sensitive tummies and too many sources of protein at once can give your puppy an upset stomach, so a single source of protein will help.

Tip: Prime 100 Roo is a complete and nutritious meal, so you can feed and train your puppy at the same time.

BBQ Chicken.

Groodle puppies LOVE BBQ chicken. Especially charcoal chicken with the toasty skin, smells, and flavors. BBQ chicken is a super high-value reward. You can break it out when you are training your puppy on challenging tasks to speed up the learning process and reward the positive behavior that you want.

Tip: A messy tip this one. If you want your dog to be by your side and interested in your every move, have a treat bag attached to your waist and place a hunk of chicken skin and BBQ inside. Smush some on your left hand, too. Perfect for teaching Groodle puppies to walk on a lead, heel, or walk off-leash, because the BBQ chicken is a higher reward than MOST distractions your puppy will encounter. Of course, every puppy is different, and always take care when training off leash that you do so in a safe environment.

Baked sausages.

Bakes sausages are another simple and tasty training treat for your Groodle puppy.

  • You can buy a bunch of high-quality pure beef sausages (avoid heavy garlic)

  • Bake them in the oven for 20 mins at 200 degrees

  • Let the sausages cool down

  • Cut them into small circles

  • Package in sandwich bags

Hey presto! You made your own training treats. Easy and delicious. You can even ‘sample’ a few yourself :)

Bell & Bone Training Treats.

Bell & Bone training treats do not have any nasty preservatives, colours, or added flavours. Just real food. Dog treats often have additives that cause skin and general health issues. The training treats are freeze-dried raw, grain-free, natural and healthy, and easy to stash in your pocket without the mess.

What if my puppy has an upset tummy?

Training treats have new tastes and experiences for your Groodle puppy. Not all treats will agree with your puppy, especially the first time. If you notice that your puppy has diarrhea after a training treat, it might be that your dog has had too much new food and too quickly. You can go back to basics and slowly add new food groups and treats over time. It’s a bit of trial and error to see what works best for your puppy.
