Breeding the best DNA tested parents for health, temperament, and good looks.

About Rux Groodles.

Location and family.

We are based in the Central Coast NSW on acreage bordered by a national park. Our dogs enjoy daily bushwalks and interacting with our young family.

We have three young boys, and our dogs are a part of our household. They are well socialised for family life and accustomed to the bangs, vacuum cleaners, playing, stomping, and laughter that a young family brings.

Style of our dogs.

We want to focus on standard Groodles with European bloodlines, which are larger set dogs with broad round teddy bear faces. We feel confident that well-structured dogs are calmer and more robust than smaller breeds. You can wrap your arms around one and get a real hug. Your dog can keep up with you when you’re on a fast-paced adventure and just as easily unwind with you at home as a quiet companion. The perfect balance. Rux Groodles typically have a wavy to curly coat, which is low to non-shedding and their coats can be styled in all sorts of fun and playful ways.

Health tested parents.

We are very particular in our breeding programs and always think about which combinations will work best to create the most beautiful dogs. All our dogs have undergone Genetic Analysis and DNA testing and every puppy comes with health information on parents. We also invest time learning which characters match best for wonderful personalities.

F1B Groodles.

We breed F1b standard Groodles. F1 is a cross between a golden retriever and a standard poodle. F1b is when we take an F1 Groodle and breed it back to a Poodle. This creates a 75% Poodle and 25% English Golden Retriever puppy. These dogs will look like the F1 Groodles and usually have a lower shedding coat. Our dogs normally have a few fleecy/wavy coat types and a few curly coat types in each litter. Fleecy coats are typically extremely low to non-shedding. Curly coats don’t typically shed at all. The F1b is an excellent choice for those who suffer from allergies.

Background.

Bonnie was our first standard Groodle. She arrived with our family by chance.

We went to Central Queensland on interstate business and met a breeder of Golden Retrievers with European bloodlines. We chatted about his 30-year history breeding Goldens and he wanted to show us a special dog he had. A groodle which was the result of his best Golden Retriever crossed with his wife’s show quality standard cream poodle. We viewed the groodle puppy as she sat calmly amongst a rowdy litter of puppies. She was sweet, calm, confident, and had the thicker English Golden retriever features with a beautiful round face, sturdy structured body, and a shed free coat. The match was made, and we took the next flight home and Bonnie came with us.

Background continued.

Instantly, we fell in love with Bonnie. She was a mellow, intelligent, and happy dog around the house. Bonnie was always careful around our young kids. She is both agile and robust, able to run on the beach or go for a hiking adventure, or just as easily lay quietly at the foot of the couch while we enjoy a coffee. We loved the non-shedding coat and our hair-free house.

Bonnie brought so much joy to our family that we wanted to share this with others. Rux Groodles was born. We have limited litters, and our breeding dogs live in homes, not kennels. We strive to provide the best companion animals that improve people’s lives.

Our motto, “Life’s better, with Rux”.
